Our story

From Thrissur to Paisley

I grew up in Thrissur, Kerala, where every man has a lungi at home. One length of cloth, wrapped at the waist. Full length for lounging, flicked up to the knee when you need to move. Nothing pinches, nothing digs in, and you can sit any way you like. It’s the most comfortable thing I’ve ever worn.

Then I moved to Scotland.

My lungi didn’t survive its first Paisley winter. Thin cotton and a cold flat don’t mix. Joggers were warm but never felt the same: tight waistbands, cuffs riding up, and no way to sit cross-legged on the sofa.

So I made the thing I wanted: a lungi in thick, double-sided fleece. Loungie keeps the wrap, the freedom and the fold-up, and adds the warmth of a blanket. When you sit down for the night, undo it and it becomes a throw.

Made in small batches. Our first batch is cut and sewn by a local maker here in Scotland, and every one is checked before it leaves. We’d rather make a few properly than a lot badly.

Lungi freedom. Blanket warmth. Whether you’ve worn a lungi your whole life or never heard the word, I hope Loungie becomes the first thing you change into when you get home.
